‘This cake is my newest fixation. And it’s so easy to make! Just make the batter and push it in the oven. My grandma followed this recipe for family birthdays:
225g butter
225g sugar
225g flour
4 eggs
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp zest of orange/lime/lemon
1 tsp vanilla essence
150g chocolate chips
- Preheat the oven at 170°C and grease a 11×4 inch loaf tin, (or something to that effect)
- In a big bowl cream the butter and sugar together and beat till fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time. (Break the eggs in a separate bowl, lest they be spoilt and ruin the entire batter)
- Stir in the vanilla and orange zest.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together. Add this to butter mixture and fold till just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and whatever you like.
- Bake it for about 1 hour 15 minutes.
- It’s ready to be eaten!
I love how soft and moist it turned out to be. I think I’ll add some cocoa powder (more chocolate :D) and walnuts for added texture the next time. For now, just spread some Nutella over a warm slice of the cake and have it with a glass of hot milk. Simply delicious!
Of course, you can look at the latest version of the chocolate chip cake!
