Tiles of Lisbon

September 25, 2013

When in Lisbon, you can’t help but marvel at the gorgeous tiles on the buildings wherever you go. I would stop every time I saw a pattern I liked, and snap a picture of it.

What a lovely gallery of images as you say the tiles are just “so Lisbon”! It’s such a shame that in so many places the old buildings are just rotting away and while the task of rescuing them is colossal lets hope that it can be done before too many are lost.

What a nice collection of tiles that you shot. I hope you didn’t get a wry neck in looking updwards to take these pictures! 
I don’t know if you already had the opportunity, but the tile museum in Lisbon is a must see for those who appreciate the “Azulejos” (ceramic tiles). Check my blog post on it in http://bestinportugal.com/a-place-worth-visiting-in-lisbon-museu-nacional-do-azulejo

Glad to see someone’s loving Lisbon just as much as I did! Hope you’re enjoying the food. Of course you’ve had the Pasteis de Belem already and the Torron? How about their skinny steaks (bisteque).

Tegels (tiles) have been decorated to get a beautiful change to your decor. You got a real nice glimpse of the tiles in Lisbon there. As rightly said do visit the museum there to get the full catch.
