Cool Kitchen Tools

March 7, 2008

A kitchen is good place to find futuristic gadgets. Here are some of the really cool and innovative kitchen gadgets and accessories I found. Some are simple ideas that were waiting to be executed while some are valuable for the utility or design. These aren’t really needed but you’ll definitely want a few!

Knife Block
This has got to be the most interesting knife block you’ve ever seen. A far cry from the bulky wooden blocks w
e’re so used to. Any one would buy these for the brilliant design itself, no need to mention the fact that it comes with a set of 5 knives.

Global Warming Mug
When you add hot water to the mug you will see the world’s coastlines slowly disappear under a hundred metres of water to reveal our much denuded landmass. Global warming is no funny matter, but atleast you’ll be conscious about your actions for the day while having your morning cuppa.“>

Banana Guard
Carrying a banana to school as a kid was quite a hassle. With the load of the books and other foods, it invariably got squished and many a times not even edible. This banana guard comes to the rescue of the banana lovers who want their bananas safe. Only point of contention being the shape – not all bananas are the same after all.

Onion Goggles
No more tears while chopping onions! These goggles have a comfortable foam seal that protects your eyes from irritating onion vapors.“>

Tetris ice cubes

Not so much of an innovation, but these ice trays are just too cute – remind me of the times I played the game on my GameBoy. :D

LED Coasters
When you place your drink on the coaster, it illuminates the drink from below, giving it a new color. I like the colour it’ll add to my drinks, but not the bulky look.”>

Tic Tac Toast

I simply love this toast stencil! The pic explains it all.

I like the idea of the Global warming mug. I like the light and colour from the coasters but like you won’t want anything bulky. The tetris ice-cubes, yeah, just for the fun of it. What I really won’t want is the knife block, it just looks cruel.

Arjwiz: The global warming mug is simply made of a material that reacts to heat. So with warm hands or some warm coffee, the mug gets heated and the coastlines disappear. Reminds me of the colour changing rings I has as a kid (still have :P )

Cynthia: The knife block can stir up quite a debate. Cruel for some and humourous for others. Now that you mentioned it, it’s got me thinking…

Hah – I was just about to say I really thought the knife block was fun when I read Cynthia’s comments – and I’m rethinking now…
